Honoring Those Facing Cancer First Hand

More and more progress is being made in the fight against cancer -- and that means more and more people are surviving cancer than ever before. If you have faced cancer first hand, you are one of more than 10 million cancer survivors who help symbolize our success so far in the fight against this disease.

At American Cancer Society Relay For Life® events, survivors have a special place -- they are honored in the opening lap of the Relay and with lighted luminaria that shine to represent the hope for a future where cancer no longer threatens the lives of our friends and family. But honoring survivors doesn’t begin and end at Relay: the American Cancer Society recognizes that patients and their loved ones need help not only with diagnosis and treatment, but also with life beyond cancer.

To honor the Survivors the South Brevard Beach team will be hosting a luncheon in their honor prior to a victory lap to kick off the event.  The Survivor and their caretaker will be the guests of our Team.  Simply down load and fill out the above form and return it to Survivor Ruthie Montelione or email the form to ruthiem@earthlink.net

That’s why the programs and services offered by the American Cancer Society are designed to offer help and hope no matter where you are in your cancer journey. You can get the most updated cancer information and find out about cancer resources in your community by calling the American Cancer Society’s 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-800-ACS-2345 or visiting http://www.cancer.org/. Anytime, day or night, the Society can help those touched by cancer find the answers they need, services that can help, and ways to connect with others. And these crucial services and programs are made possible by the donations from communities across the nation at events like Relay For Life.

Each Relay gives the entire community an opportunity to celebrate survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and fight back against this disease. You can help the American Cancer Society and its lifesaving mission to prevent cancer, diminish suffering, and eliminate cancer as a major health issue by taking part in events like Relay For Life. By raising much-needed funds and awareness, you can help future generations survive and thrive in a world where cancer is no longer a major health issue.
